For the love of Dior- A May Day treat.

Posted on May 1, 2012

Apparently in France, Lily of the Valley traditionally brings good luck on May 1st. So today the House of Dior is wishes everyone much luck and happiness for the year ahead.

To celebrate May Day, they have a little video of an exceptional piece, the “Muguet” dress. It’s so exquisite I had to share.

I’d never want to take it off… ever.

What Others Are Saying

Oh Cat, thank you for sharing and making this rainy 1st May a brighter day. So beautiful, and I adore lily of the valley, my mothers bouquet was entirely lily of the valley-the frangrance must have been fabulous. I liked the text below, even more reason to include in a bridal bouquet.

The Lily of the Valley signifies the return to happiness. If you were to include the flower in a bouquet and give it to someone it would convey the message that your happiness has returned because of him or her. This delicate bloom is known for a sweet perfume and bright a white or a soft pink colour. The Lily of the Valley begins to bloom in early spring.

According to legend, the Lily of the Valley sprang from the tears of Eve after she was ejected out of the Garden of Eden. This early spring bloom is also known as the “ladder to heaven”, due to the bell shaped flowers cascading down the stem.

Oh Pamella, what a gorgeous explanation of the flower and its meaning. How incredibly romantic. Thank you for posting it. I think this gown just encapsulates all that romance and history. xxx
